ok, so heres the question, the speed governer works buy when the car hits a certain speed, (Speed sensors) the car wont accelerate. all cars in general. so if you are racing could you wire in a dpdt switch to run the line from the speed sensor to the ecm, one line through a resistor and the other just the same line, that way the car thinks its going slower and you can just turn it off for normal driving and braking. any ideas, im not familiar with the whole system just looking for an alternative to reprogramed ecu.
Not too sure about that one  ASE has a chip available and it is worth every penny. It will remove speed limiter and raise shift points and hp by 15hp. The idea you had if you could get it to work would do nothing but remove the limiter. :(

Here's the thing, ... in my 02 GT ..... if you leave the car in D...it won't go much past 190...it just sits there...but if you drop it back to 3.....it goes up nicely ;)....then just drop it back to D....
But if your car is made differently,....their's a speed sensor located somewhere on the tranny...I used to know where it was on the Z24 but maybe just run it by your mechanic...theirs only 2 wires comming out of it..just splice one of the wires...run 2 leads into the car to a switch........so you put one end of the wire you run in the car to the one end that's cut...and the same for the other.....that'll fix the computer ;)...it worked on my Z...

You will not be able to disable the govonor by cutting wires. :(

you can wire in a switch in your speed sensor wire and when you turn it off you wont be able to tell how fast you are going but the govenor wont stop you ither. alot of the Thirdgen boys do it but they have a mechanical speedo so they can still tell how fast they are going. this will cause a SVS light until it is switched back on. also the TC will not lock up and if driven like this will wear it out extreamly fast.

here is a link to the Tech Article over on Thirdgen.org that explains how to do it with the Fbody but im sure it would work on a GA also.
edit: whoops forgot the link. here it is. http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/unlimited.shtml

Is this what you're talking about? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33597&item=2459671145)
Edit:
If this is it, what does it require for install? Am I going to have to bust out with the soldering iron or wire cutters to install it?
Anything else you can let me know about this would be quite beneficial (Eg: fuel economy, or any negative things)
