My Girlsfriends 94 grand am was having some major strut issues on pass/front side. It appeared that the strut mount had somehow failed because the strut rod actually put a dimple in the under side of the hood.

I ordered the entire new strut mount, got to installing....but 1st a couple things...

GM is gay....who uses damn tapperd bolts for struts? (fatter tward the head of the bolt) I needed a damn air hammer to get those things out...

I get the strut out with a minimum of swearing, pull the mount off...it looks fine?....i look further....The actual part of the strut that is suppose to stop the shock rod from drilling up and into your hood was actually pushed down onto the shock rod causing a couple undisired issues ...:2up: :2up:

1.) Very unsafe driving, the wheels simply just wobbles around, no control of the car.
2.) Its very hard to get off because its almost 'pressed' onto the shaft.

The part that failed is the part that the bump stop would touch if u were to compress the shock all the way.

Ive never seen a part of suspension just fail like that, that is not right and I checked on this specific part and it only comes with the strut/bearing mount, you can not buy it alone as far as I know...

Anyway, I decided to replace the entire strut and now its good as new.

BTW....symtoms of failur before it actually fails...chattering sound when going over unsmooth rode.

Sorry, for spelling/grammar, its late = )
