Hello
I have about one last problem with my car.
My Air bag light comes "on" and "off" but is mostly "on" all the time.
It flashes when I stop and go and stays "on" while driving.
If anybody has experienced this problem and solved it without spending hundreds of dollars for this...please help!
Thanks
Sorry, this is the second post but nobody replies or they ignore me?
Anyways, thanks for the help. I it not a big issue but I'm affraid that the air bags may open while driving or not open if I get in an accident. In that case, you know what could happen! :angel1:
To be honest on something that is so technical and safety related I can only recommend taking it back to the dealer.

The car when first started will check all its systems, with airbags I believe the airbag light will flash 7 times for its self diagnostics if the test fails then the light comes on and stays on until the next igntion cycle. I agree with rayz the airbag system is very dangerous with all those explosives in there, your best bet would be to have someone certified look at it.

I would drive carefully during light traffic to AutoZone/Checker/PepBoys and have them do a scan of the OBDII system (it's free from most of those stores).
The scan *may* tell what the stored code is regarding the SRS (supplemental restraint system).
It's probably something minor like a loose wire, blown fuse, or failed signal, BUT,
in any case YOU should not attempt a repair. BOOM if you touch the wrong thing.
As well as body work and frame straightening, reputable body shops are experts at airbag systems.
One of these reputable shops (NOT Maaco/Scheib  ) may do you a better price than a dealer.
Some self diagnosis (of the car, not your brain :D ):
* Has any work been done in the steering column or under the passenger dash? A wire or connector may have been cut or dislodged.
* Has any work been done under the front bumper? Again, a wire or connector....
I have heard that a heavy parking lot hit to the front bumper (by an SOB who leaves) can 'set' the front sensor to trigger. But since your car was parked, ignition 'off' and not moving, the air bags didn't deploy.
In any case, even if you find a loose connector, do NOT reconnect it yourself.
The body shops and dealers know how to 'lockout' the SRS and avoid COSTLY deployment of the airbags while troubleshooting the system.
Your insurance company may even cover the repairs under the 'comprehensive' terms of your policy, if the cause were hit-&-run parking lot collision rather than a stupid GM dependabilty issue.
Do not drive this car 'til you have the SRS fixed.
If the airbag goes off 'accidently' while you're driving, you might lose control and cause damage or injury to others.
Since you have posted in a public forum that you are aware of a problem, you have become very liable for driving a defective vehicle.
Good luck.

What they said. I had one go off after I replaced it. It was a recall. (ford) I was pulling out of the shop, then "BOOM"!!, Got a bloody nose and nearly ruined a pair of clean underwear. Apparently the parts dept handed me one that was on the recall list. We have speacial electronic simulators and test equipment, let a shop get the bloody nose.
