Argggh.. my g/friend's car is starting to get on my nerves..

99 GA GT w/ ~ 50K on it.

Just started to idle HIGH-around 1900 rpms and it doesn't matter if the car is warmed up. When it is in gear the car will actually jump forward when I take my foot off the brake. Seems to be getting an awful lot of throttle for no reason.. In fact, I think the rpms will keep climbing if I don't shut off the car. I want to drive it down to the dealership, but fear it will blow up along the way..

Any ideas?

I'm thinking TPS..

Thanks!

either that or the IAC :D Check your throttle plate and cable to make sure they are not sticking.

Do you happen to have a Casper's TPS-TEC installed? If so, remove it and see if the idle improves.

I don't have Casper's TPS.

Thanks for the tips thus far. I'm checking the vacuum lines and the throttle hardware to make sure it's ok.

Vacuum lines are often the cause of a high idle. I'll do some searching and see what I can find for you. :)

car is fixed! :D i went under the hood and checked all the vacuum lines.. seems that one of them was off. i also played with the throttle cable and plate. started the car up.. and it was a very happy car. :D which, in turn, makes me a happy GM owner.

thanks for all the help fellas! all great suggestions. ;)
