Ok, I don't know what to search for as far as this goes. I just took a long trip for vacation and took my car hoping it would be fine. I made it back ok but my car was doing something really strange throughout the whole trip. I would take off from a stop(like coming from a toll booth) and the car would shudder around three thousand RPMs it would go back and forth between 2800 and 3000 RPMs kinda like what it does when you hit the rev limiter. If I let off the gas it would shift then I could go again. Then when it got up to about 70 at 4000 RPMs it would do the same exact thing. and when cruising at about 80 on the turnpike I could see the rpms jumping up and down 500 RPms like the TCC was locking then unlocking and so on. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I was thinking either a fuel delivery problem(fuel filter or pump) but it wont stall out or anything like that. Twice after stopping at a rest stop I went to restart it and it would shudder and go between 500 and 800 RPMs and I shut it off and restarted it, it did the same thing so I hit the gas to rev it up then it smoothed out. I dont know if it is a fuel problem a TCC problem an internal transmission problem or what. HELP. Its a 95 SE 3100 with the 4T60E tranny. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sounds like a bad torque convertor. When they get too hot and die they will only let you speed up to the stall speed of the converter. That sucks man. I didnt know that 95 grand ams came with a 4-speed auto thats kewl.
