exhaust question

I have been giving this some thought about. If I run a 2 in or more from the exhaust manifold and run a high flow cat, and then a flowmaster muffler or whatever. How much would all of this cost and would I gain HP or anything. Any help would be nice.

if you want cheap hp, the just chop off the cat converter an get a straight pipe with a fat muffler on the end. Also with the stock air cleaner we have with the rubber hose. take off the rubber hose an air cleaner an chop it all off except where the air filter sits ( so you can see the air filter all around). I have done both of those things an it really woke my engin up !! in other words yes you can defnatly feel an hear the improvment.

well like i said before. chopping off the cat will not improve anything and it will also cause your vehicle to fail emissions
but if you run like 2 1/2 or even 2 1/4 pipe from the manifold back and have a high flow catalytic converter with a nice flow master or borla muffler etc it will help
i also have the header from the fiero store for my car. i haven't gotten around to putting it on yet

as far as the air cleaner assembly ... get maybe a K&N air filter
you can also get a honda cold air tube from autozone for 30-40 dollars and make your own cold air intake. the colder the air the better.
i myself have had a cold air intake (custom) and felt a difference with it than the stock one and as most of you may have noticed i have the holley big bore throttle body on my car and yes there is a difference with it.

i got mine from a Junk yard off another ga the same year and engine as mine. but you can pick one up from
fierostore.com
they are kinda expensive though, i believe their price was 300 something


it did make a nice difference from the stock one
more air to the engine, better it breathes and creates hp etc

Is there anything else that I can do to my car. I already have a KnN air filter. I cleaned it up the other day and I can tell a little bit of a difference.

other things i can suggest would be to change the coil pack

there are two of them on our 2.5s on the back side of the engine closer to the firewall.. the easy way to get to them is to crawl under the car and you can see them. I have accel super coils ,bosch wires(and i also have a set of the accel wires),i have had ac rapid fire plugs but i went back to the ac delco plugs.

biggest thing is to help the engine breathe.
I also have a super chip in my computer which gives you an extra 10-12 hp and 17 lbs of ft torque

do some searches online in our forums here and also like on yahoo etc.. the accel coils can be found at autozone.com and they run about 40$ each maybe a lil more .

oh an about that removing that cat converter comment you made " it wont increase hp " ok then why would a high flow cat increase hp ???? i also wanted to say my state doesnt have emmision laws so i removed mine. Not only did i feel the gain it also made my car sound mean.

also how did you find a holly big bore tbi ?????? did you just go around to all the junk yards an remove all the air cleaners an check ?? also how could you tell it was a holly tbi ????? i wouldnt mine gettin one .

my car is sooo fun to drive now. iam tellin ya remove the cat an put on a straight pipe over it, an a performance muffler. it sounds awesome, kinda like a rally car .
