I decided that I am going to do some custom paint work to my interior on my 95GT. I already got the primer/paint/clear coat (Indy red :D). I took that little plastic ring out of the spare-tire compartment and used that to practice my technique.. and a few questions came up.
I used two coats of primer.. waited about half an hour after the second coat and sanded down some of the rough areas, then applied three coats of my 'Indy Red' paint (Plasti-Kote Car touch-up spray), and two coats of clear coat (Plasti-Kote clear Car touch-up spray) about two hours after my last coat of paint. The piece looks pretty good.
Was wondering:
A) Does this technique sound good? Am I doing anything wrong, and should I be looking for anything to be amis?
B) How long does it usually take to 'harden' so that it wont scratch? Right now the piece scratches with just a brush of my fingernail.. and it still seems kind of tacky.
C) How should vinyl dye be used properly? I really haven't read any techniques on how to use it (and I can't find any in the color I need either..)
Also was wondering.. does anyone know of a kind of spray that will lay ontop of any paint to give it a metallic color? Like maybe a metallic clear coat or something?
Any and all input is appreciated.. this is my first time attempting this and really don't want to screw it up :D
Thanks!
