I have a 99 ga gt with ram air i want to get rid of the intake housing and just put a cone performance filter connected right to the stock hose. is this a smart idea with the whole ram air going on or will i be basiclly waisting my tim. I know the cone will give me a deeper sound when i get on it. thats what i want but i dont want a loss in performance...should i not take off the intake plastic housing and replace it with a performance filter cone or should i just leave the housing connected...suggestions very welcomed...im working on a tight budget right now so an CAI would be nice and is in the future but i want to do somthing now for a lil extra boost persay...let me know what ya think thanx

you wont loss performace ,unless your in a very hot area, or standing still for a long time. but a CAI will get you more performace and heat wont be as much as a issue.

i dont have ram air, but befour i had a CAI i had a WAI. and what i did was get a rubber connected and connected it straight to the MAF. but you have ram air, so i thing most people place the cone into the stock airbox
