I was wonderin if sumone could gimme guidelines on how to remove the stock 01 GT gear shifter and install a new one. also, if anyone knows any good aftermarket auto tranny shift knobs?:???:

Put the shifter back in 1st.pull down the boot and look at the front of the shifter there should be a big staple pull it out and shifter comes off.As for after market i have a ractive t handle which i love.

yea i checked out the ractive shifter knob... i like :)... installation sounds easy... anything else i should do to help installation and help keep it on?

Nah not really just make sure ya get it tight may have to torque it down a few times after ya use it a day or two to get it seated good.

i got a ractive stick style shifter with the button on the top for my 95' grand am, i just wrapped the sstick in duct tape and shoved the shifter over it, i can post pics if anyone wants to see it :)

Any part number on the Ractive T-handle and/or a pic? That sounds like a neat idea!

Well, that looks ok, but just not my style. I had a nice T-handle Hurst on my 5-speed mustang that was cool for a stick shift, but I'm not fond of the Ractive one on a newer GA...just looks out of place. But, thanks for the pic....and just my opinion :)
