Pretty much what the topic says.
How difficult would it be to swap in a v8 from like a camaro or firebird into a ga. Well not how difficult, but how much would it cost. Difficulty means nothing to me I still cant do it anyway, so I guess how much would it cost if anyone has done it or works in that field?
Also does anyone know if there is a good turbo / SC out there for ga's hitting at least 20 psi which pretty much means stage 2 since at stage 1 we already have that 60hp weak sc thats really not worth the investment. Also billet(sp*) is making a cam for our engine will that help the psi it can handle?
Just looking for a way to up the hp of my ga, but really dont know which way to go. Everything I can do to it wont get it to that 400 at the wheels mark I want to hit.

theres a GA out there with a v8, the subject really has been beat to death, just search for "racer betty" and youll see the car. the basics are as follows:
-$100,000 project to convert from 2.2L ecotech to a blown, bored IROQ-Z motor.
-puts out an estimated 750 hp
-owned and built by AED (automotive engineering design).

 that's what i was thinking. with 20psi you'd better have such a low compression ratio you could count it on one hand.

if you're willing to shell out that much money, why not just get a different car. Not saying I don't love my GA, but I'm not going to lie, if I had more money to spend I would get a much nicer car.
Mini-Cooper S Convertable :), my own little turbo charged gocart. You'd see me drifting all over the place and pulling 360's at 70 mph on the freeway. One day.

i dont think 20 psi is to much i think the only prob would be getting enough fuel in the motor to keep up.
my car will be running 14 psi untill i get the fuel system upgraded and then ill be going as high as the motor will take all the time with the once in a wile max boost runs.

I dont know if what i heard is right or wrong but i waz told as long as the fuel supply is there to keep the motor running not lean or rich it can handle up to 20 psi after that you need lots of work to handle more.
correct me if i am wrong im always wanting to learn more.

thedodgegarage.com .... if I get really desperate I am going to swap in a dodge engine.
But is swapping in camaro engine really going to cost a 100,000? I know its all about the money, but I think it woudl be cheaper to swap in a nissan sr20de and turbo that thing.... cheaper too by a lot (thats assuming camaro engine is 100grand)

i saw 3 99+ gt's last weekend at the nhra winternationals that were equipped with v8's and rear wheel drive. and no these weren't pro stock cars they were modified production cars.

I still wonder how hard a 4.9 V8 Caddy engine would be.... the trannys on the new GA are the same as mine (4T60E) and therfor will bolt up, it would just be a matter of getting the engine in the car, and getting all the many extra electronic devices to work......

You wanna do a V-8 conversion to a pontiac go pick up a fiero for about $150 and then spend about $1500 more and youll have a low 12-13 sec car and that would be runnin a small v8 motor LS1 and bigger and well youll be spanking Lambo's and juiced up vettes ahh you get the idea. Im fixing to be the v8 archie swap kit and putting in a north star v-8 wohoo. Now thats a super fast go cart

If you want a bomb diggity swap for the grand am here's one for ya.
