3.3L versus 3300

what's the main difference between the 3.3L versus 3300.
Is one made in USA and the other made in Canada ? Is one a Pontiac & the other a Buick ??? If so which goes with what ?
My engine has 3300 markings but whenever I go for parts they ask if it's a 3.3 !!!

It is the same engine. For example a 8.1 is a 8100. It is just another way of saying it.

I'm sure I heard some buzz about them not being exactly the same. I'm just curious to know what.... if any

I believe that the runners in the grand am are longer, at least that is what I saw in the junkyard versus the olds and buick's I have had.
