i have read some threads on this board and everybody seem to worry about getting little extra hp out of their cars, i would think having a four door ( in most cases ) heavy cars like GA, people would try to loose some weight to go faster. Just by loosing all the trim and upholstery in the trunk with all spare tire and jack and car floor mats and stuff like that, you should benefit a lot. 4 bangers have about 150 pounds of torque only, so I COULD BE VERY WRONG but i think if you relocate battery to the trunk and remove the gas tank and replace it with small fuel cell you would save up large on weight and benefit from weight distribution. Again, theres a big chance of me being very wrong since i dont know too much bout these car, just my 2 cents.

Welcome Kons, have any pics of your GT? :)
Some good suggestions, but our cars are relatively light to begin with. 99+ weigh a little more than the older ones but its still not too bad, ranging between 3060-3200lbs depending on options. 92-98 can weigh anywhere between 2740-2930lbs. And pre-92 ones are even lighter. Most people with 99+ that race have the 3400 so they dont have much of a problem with torque either. Battery relocation is a great cheap weight mod, although it works better on a RWD car. But for only $40 and a longer lasting battery, I think its worth it. And most of the people that bring their car to the track already take out the spare/jack and sometimes even the back seat

My back seat weighs no more than 10 pounds altogether :???: why take the time to pull it...

i'll post some pics of my car a little later and in appropriate thread :)
every hundred pounds taken off my car would give me axtra .1 second in 1/4 mile run, i got 278 rwtq, i though upgrading to tubular suspnsion and removing any extra weight would make GA much quicker.
to Sonictron, i dunno how important the race result is for you but people fight for every little bit and every little bit adds up at the end.
soundproofing and carpets under the door panels and elsewhere in most cars weight a lot but really useless if you're trying to make some extra performance.
cheers:D

removing all that stuff does lose weight, which will make your car go faster. but if it's your daily driver than why take all that stuff out? removing all the carpet, sound dampening, spare tire, jack, big fuel tank, etc. takes away from the car. now if it's your weekend racer that you haul on a trailer then hell yeah. i'd have a shell, motor, frame, and wheels. :P oh yeah, and a seat
