I wanted to upgrade the sound of my car, and my friend told me, an owner of a cherry bomb himself, that I should get one, and that it would sound nice. Well, I read on DomesticTunerz.com that I shouldn't put a Cherry Bomb Glasspack on a 4-cly. Do any of you guys have a Cherry Bomb on your car? I'm just looking for a fairly cheap, deep, low sounding muffler/exaust.

Well a cherry bomb prolly wont give you a deep low sounding muffler/exhaust.....it will make you sound like a ricer......a flowmaster with a good tip will make a good sound just make sure you get a decent size pipe. just ask around at muffler shops in your area they pretty much know whats going to sound like what...

all it is is a fat sound chamber, with nothing to give backpressure, so unless you got rid of a grand am and bought an '80s Chevy pickup, then I would suggest staying away from this

I used a cherrybomb on my car to replace my stock resonator and it made my exhaust tone deeper than what it was, a little louder too but noticeably deeper. I do have a v-6 though.

It's auto. Thanks for the advice though. Maybe I should check out Flowmaster...

auto/std has nothing to do with it

flowmasters kill performance because of their craptastic design.

Got any proof to back that up? I know of GT's running 15.5 with flowmasters, doesn't seem much like a drain on performance to me.

cherry bomb any type goes for 30 bucks canadian here in TO, so what kind of performance do u expect from that ? same goes for sound.

about flowmasters - these are one of the best mufflers for sound and performance out there, if u have something to start with you'll notice better improvement with these or MAC mufflers that enything else u could get.

How much for a decent Flowmaster?

brand new muffler would go for 75-100 canadian here, probably like 50-75 US.

Alright, thanks for the tip. I know that there is a few different kinds of mufflers to get. Any advice on what kind of flowmaster? 40 Series? 30 Series?

guys with stangs always get 40 series, i dunno why but they do.

less chambers the muffler has, the louder it is going to be. 1 chamber is basically a hole right through, 2 chambers would be probably what you're looking for, i think they make 2 3 and 4 chamber mufflers, i dunno which one is which ( series wise ) .

when u go out and buy one, ask how many chambers it has. that goes for flowmaster and few other brands. MAC and some others dont have chambers, they're designed differently or just not advertized in that way - not sure.

why spend extra money into a cherry bomb when u can just put in straight piece of pipe ? less weight and cheaper. no different in performance

Sound more like a personal judgement than anything scientific.

Used to have a Flowmaster crossflow on my '92 Z28 and the '83 Z28 I currently have parked at Chads house also has a Flowmaster on it.

My only grips is that they tend to rust pretty quick. That is why I am a big fan of Borla, epsecially on V6 or V8 applications.

To bad ATR doesn't make a Grand Am exhaust. Their 3" Pitbull stainless system sounded awesome on my GN.
