2.5's with auto transmission...what is it?

I was just on B&M's site looking at shift kits for 88 Grand Am and these are the ones they say it can be. I'm almost positive the 700-R4 is whats in my Fathers 84 GMC Jimmy, so I doubt thats what we have.
