er.....I use my 205/55/16 HR Dayton directional tires and they work out pretty well.

But, if you are going to spend the money, look for something with aggressive tread. No specifics though...sorry

I have 195/65R15 winter tires on mine. I'd tell you the model and price but it won't help you much as they aren't available in the USA. :(

We have 205/65QR15 Dunlop Graspic DS-1 for winter use.
I can't tell you how they are because this is the first season with them. They are a studless snow tire simular to Blizzacks, which IMO is good because I hate studs. They only cost about $65 each from tirerack.com .

I've got a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 in 225/50R16. I love them (it's my second winter on them) and I think they're worth every penny of their steep price.

They come studless but can be studded if necessary.

Last January I got 4 tires for my 95 GT from Wal-Mart when they were closing out their stocks. The house brand (don't remember the name), but made by Goodyear. 205/55-16s. They are carrying the same brand right now. I got them for $240 installed, balanced and taxes. That's in Canadian $ and it was truly a deal.

They work great! Maybe not as ultimately good as some of the ice & snow tires, but WAY better than my 225/50-HR16 all-seasons were. They also cost significantly less than the name brand ice & snows. I have much more confidence driving in snow with them. If cost is a factor, it might be worth a look for you.

I have a set of Pirelli Winter 210's. 205/60HR15. Yes, they are H rated. Great in the dry, great in the snow. Not great on ice though. I don't know how they compare to Blizzaks on ice. Two thumbs up.

You real don't have to know what is good, you have to know what stores have left that will fit you car. Many places have sold out their snow tires by now.

Anything rated for snow is better than all seasons. I have Weathermasters from Tirerack ($45).

I would recommend a set of four steel wheels, 15 inch because the tires are cheaper. Width, 195-215, everyone says the narrow width cuts down to the hard pack and they're right. I usually cruise around 50-55 in the snow, so I'm gliding above anything real solid.

The bad part about the narrow tire is that most of my winter driving is on dry pavement. Snows have less rubber on the road, so I lose grip in the corners and stopping distance is increased. A narrower tire will make it worse, so it depends on want kind of driving you do and how much snow you get.

Where I live, we get ten foot of snow every season. We only get ice about once a season although the lake is frozen over already for this year. I had a set of Blizzaks on my Achieva. They lasted four winters. I had the micro-pore, ice grabbers for the first two years, after that they are like regular snows.

If the rims in your avatar are what are on your car, they are 15" aluminum. :)

Thanx Shawn,The dealership is mounting the snows on them,Hope that I dont have any problems down the road.Oh I got my tires,Had to drop my car back off,the tires had come in o shippment. The thing is they quoted me a price and after the work was done.they upped the price on the bill,I had them bag my old tires and they billed me for tire disposal! I never complained.I got the tires, I will take it as a lesson for my next visit. The quote was $475.99The final reaming was $555.28.I only go there cause warranty and GM parts.I think theyre tire warranty was more or less only factory defects only covered.most places give a rotation deal puncture warranty etc...The service guy said the tire has a rugged puncture resistance on sidewall,What about nails in tread He said Im on my own. Thanks alot.Well theyll be off in March or April.I get taken advantage of.Anyone get crapped on with there garage work?Mike,Happy Holidays!
