What are the pros and cons to both? K & N claims to have similar resultes yielding from either of the two within comparable parameters. What do you all think as far as you experience goes, cause a CAI sounds nice, but if I can have the stock ram-air effect with a K & N Panel, I wont go thru the trouble of taking it off. Gimme your ideas...thanks!

ram is very restritive compared to a CAI, cone is the way to go.

Alright, can you give a basic break down as to why? In theory..if theres hot air in the engine bay and the cone has no protection, the air being sucked in is hot right? With a cai, you have it outside of the engine but now deal with the possibility of water ingestion. With the air box, its protecting the filter panel from heat and still draws some cold air from outside. Can you break it down for me?

The cone filter flows more CFM than the flat panel, thats where the HP comes from in the filter area.

Yeah, theres possible water ingestion, but the cold air and the cfm increase is a trade off.

And you can always put it back to stock in the winter time, or make a custom watersheild/snorkel for the cone....

So maybe in stock form..a k & N panel in the winter..and a cai in the summer?

Unless you drive through a 3ft deep puddle a cai isnt going to kill your car when it rains, some would disagree with that but ive had my cai on for a good long while, and driven through some HEAVY rain and some huge puddles on accident and never even got the filter wet. Just keep your stock water shield on and ull be fine
