I have been htinking about borrowing my friends cut off saw and taking off the res. on my car. Then going to the parts store and buy a piece of pipe that is just a little longer than the res. was and use muffler clamps to hold it on. Do you think i should do this and will the clamps work or should i get it welded? Thanks, Travis

It'll probably work for a while. You can try it out to see if you like it that way and have it welded up later if you decide you do.

I think I would have the new pipe in my hand and was sure it would slide over the pipe to be cut before I put a saw to the old pipe.

Thanks, i think i will measure how long of pipe i need then get it from Advanced Auto tomarrow and make sure sure that it will fit over the pipe. Then cut off the res. and put the pipe on with the clamps. If i like it i will get the seams welded later in the week.;) When i cut the res. off would it be ok to drive the car a few miles just so i could see what it would sound like with just a cat. on it before i put the pipe in place? :P

Sure.....it won't hurt anything. But it will be LOUD!!! :D
drive to midas or meineke, it will cost you like $30-40 for them to do it. Why bother with it and maybe mess it up when they can do a good job at it?

i have no resonator on my car and it sounds great(i have slp piping) i also dont see anything wrong with putting clamps on it. get good clamps and have the ends of the pipe alittle bigger so it can slide over your exsistin pipe....then is should be find. my muffler, tips, ect. are all put together with clamps and sleeves!

Should hold tight with clamps.
