Alright, I'm about ready to just kick my new speakers out the door and forget this all even happened. I cannot figure out how to take that stupid window crank off to get the door panel off ('99 GA). I've tried, my brother's tried, my father's tried, and my uncle who works on cars for a living has tried and the damn thing just won't come off. Everyone keeps saying just pop the clip out but I can't find the stupid thing. I've looked all over that window crank and can't find anything. The crank remover is doing me no good because I have no idea what to do with it. Does anyone have like a picture of where the clip is supposed to be because I swear my car doesn't have one even though I know it has to be there somewhere. What I wouldn't give to have power windows at a time like this...please help!

On other cars, the clip lines up with the handle. I've heard that you can take a piece of cloth, slip it under the handle and free the clip with a sawing motion. It might be between the handle and the clear plastic ring.
I have a steel pick with a 90* hook on the end. I slip that in and can catch the clip to pull it out.

There's a countersunk plastic wahser on my niece's. It's between the handle & the door panel. That may be your problem. Make sure you get the clip removal tool in between the washer/spacer & the crank handle. I Slide the tool under the crank handle side & not the backside of the handle.

if you look at the handle of the crank, put the tool in, so that it is below the crank. there is a little plastic thing in there you need to get between, it's easy to miss. After you get in there, just wiggle it around a little bit and push it in, and you should get the clip to pop out. Here's a picture of what I mean.

That little plastic thing would be the washer/spacer I spoke of.:D

I know the exact feeling I got so pissed trying to get one of those handels of.
Anyways I just pushed up against the door paneling right by the handel. then i took a small flat head screw driver and pushed that plastic spacer over so i could see the actual shaft. I didn't have one of the tools you spoke of so i took a longer flat head screw driver and with the handel down, came up from the buttom and caght the bottom bootom of one side of the clip pushed up and it moved up a little then did it to the other side and it pooped right off.
The clip itself looks like a upside down U and it snaps over that round shaft.
NOTE. I got it off but I still haven't tried to get it on. I may have to get that tool and see if i can get it back on

Soundz like a personal problem to me!:D Ok, jus kiddin those are called "horse shoe" clips, by the way & be carefull when you pry them off, they often go flying & are difficult to find at that point.

Sometimes it's a plus having access to GM Dealerworld. Unlimited information on how to remove things, fix things, and diagnostic charts. hehe
The pin that holds the window crank on can just be pushed out by using a pick set. You can get them from anywhere that sells tools. Sometimes it can be remove with a flathead screwdriver, but thats more of a pain. The pin is almost flush with the back of the crank arm. Push the plastic washer back against the door to access the pin. Then all you have to do is insert the clip back in the crank before you install the crank and push the crank arm back on over the splines.
The attached image shows the GM tool. Obviously not everyone has one of those so I showed where to insert the pick set on the pin. Good luck!

You can also pick up a window crank tool in the HELP section of most auto parts stores for about $5.00 :-D
