I have been told that they use a different type of system in the supercharger which most other manufacturers of sc's don't use, which make them better and more expensive...

still....look at the rest of the stuff...even the 'cai' is $300 and it even looks like it sits on the fender wall

It doesnt say that it is a CAI, it says "air intake system" $300 is Canadian dollars, I see that you live in the US so its $200. BTW all the other parts are relatively cheap esp. TB, intake manifold, heads. Also some people are confused by their refundable core. For example the 2.4 heads are $800+$250 core. This doesnt mean that its $1050, its still $800, you just pay the $1050 up front and they return the $250 after the work is done. The 2.4 S/C is $4100. The reason why that may seem high is because first off it uses a Vortech centrifugal S/C which is MUCH better than roots type blowers. It is more efficient, doesnt cause as much heat (which is good for internals), can produce more hp, more easily upgradeable. The kit comes with everything too, reprogrammed ECU, K&N filter, adjustable blow off valve, etc.

does it come with an intercooler?

no, Vortech does have them available to get seperate but you would need to have custom piping done

For this market, I do not feel RSM is expensive. Maybe if you compair them to a Civic market where stuff is a dime-a-dozen. But if you know where to purchase a supercharger for a LA1 for under $3000 please don't hold out on us and share the info.

2.4 has a larger aftermarket for it due to the Jbodys.

Who has complete kits for the 2.4 for under $3000? Besides, the GM supercharger.

Simple lesson in economics, supply and demand...They are the only company that supplies, and the the demand is great enough the cost goes up....from what i here it is very good, irate gt is running low 14's and he has it.

... also, remember guys (unless I am mistaken) the RSM supercharger is a complete kit complete with 'reworked' computer :)

I notice they sell the kit for the 3100 series V6, does anyone know anyone who actually has one? ANd I also noticed it says that the S/C for the 3100 is also the charger for the 3400. But its says they both go up to 250hp. So you get a 75 HP gain with the 3400 but you get a 95 HP gain with the 3100? How is that possible on the same S/C set up?

Also i noticed there strut bar looks identical to the ractive strut bar, yet I paid $35 for my ractive, and RSM wants $109.

Well, STB's aren't something that are scarce, so go with whatever you want...

Anyhow, I think you can get a spearco intercooler or aftercooler and that will work, or you can get the Vortech Aftercooler, but I don't know if they'll work on the 3400s.

I have heard that the 3100's are capable of puttng out a lot of spare HP with forced induction, how true that is, I'm not sure as the only people I've heard of that mess with them are Fiero owners, and I've only seen one with a rubo, so take it for what it's worth.

I'd say it's worth the money to get the RSM S/C because of 2 big factors:
1. it's not a roots type S/C, so you get all the flavour and no aftertaste... errr.... all the boost and not as much of the weight...
2. RSM has made the S/C setup pretty easy for most speed garages to install, and the gains are more or less repeatable.

I'd ask for a dyno -sheet before I invested it however, and do a about 5 pulls on a dyno before and after installing and tuning. I haven't yet heard of another company developing a new S/C setup, so I'd probably say go with a FPR, and if you can find them, larger injectors, iridium plugs, 10.4mm wires and mabe a DIS ignition system. I would DEFINITELY consult a local dealer or MSD/Jacob's Electronics first before ordering from RSM.. There are some really good bargains to be had.

It's expensive because some of the stuff is yellow. As you all probably know, yellow=horsepower.

and another thing you'd notice if ya surf around RSM's site like i did, they make all there stuff them selves, minus the vortec s/c its self. all the tubing, the heads, the cams, all that they do them selves. i just wish i had the muney for the s/c kit and the stroker kit from DragEvolution2200 (http://dragevolution2200.com/Evolution_Store_Cavalier_Engine_Parts2.html)
