Well, after wrestling our ancient 40/40 machine for two days, I got my ExtremeContacts on. So long RS-As ... you suck.

So far they ride great. Panic stops are shorter. I haven't pushed them on the corners yet. Rain and snow are coming for the weekend, so they will be put to the test.

What is a 40/40 machine?

Not exactly meant to be used on alloy wheels, just steelies. When you are talking free mount and balance, you tend to overlook its purpose.

Well .... it only took three people. The bottom bead could be put on easily without even using the machine. After that was accomplished, we tried to get the top bead on, but it would only make it halfway before kicking off. So, we first tried one prybar to keep the bead from climbing up the rim. That didn't make it. So we tried a second prybar on the opposite side. No go. So, with both prybars, and the one mechanic standing on top of the tire, the bead went right on.

As I said, when its free, you take advantage. The tire shop next door to the warehouse wanted $80 to do all four.

BTW ... they were factory 16" 15-spokes.

I agree, wouldn't recomend a tire machine like that on Alloys. I have seen a new kid use a alloy on one once and the bottom bead breaker came up and took a nice chunk out of the back side of the wheel.

But hell, I'd use it if it was sitting in my shop too.
I've used a bubble balancer before because it was there. lol
