Would I get better increase by doing the 2.3 HO manifold switch or would buying the ported RSM manifold be better?
it'd be cheaper to buy my intake manifold... you won't gain anything from the RSM intake manifold. It's just so you can accomodate a 62mm throttle body

You would get a better increase in HP by going with the RSM one, but the 2.3 is cheaper (I have one on ebay now :D)

thats honestly the dumbest thing ive ever heard
btw if you didnt know, RSMs claims are unfounded adn UNtested (they dont run dynos) so the 2.3 flows better (has been proven on flowbenches, i saw them somewhere)

Touche, I just figured at that price, they would have done something to make sure their item isnt a peice of shit.
And one other thing, I would never have ran (even before I heard this) an RSM manifold, just because their price...

um, its the bolt pattern for the 2.3 TB i beleive but it might, though the stock 56mm HO TB is best.

62 mm are you serious, son you need to do some flow research, thats just a ridiculous size. The stock throttle bodie already flows plenty for the quad 4, its the exhaust that is hurting you. Just get a regular 2.3 ho with throttle bodie and modify it to bolt up.

Go with the 2.3 manifold; might be a bit more work, but you would satisfied with the results.

Where would you go about finding a 2.3 HO IM? How much do they run for a cost usually? Jayhawk you talk about it taking up more work. What exactly do you have to do that makes it more work that the RSM IM?

It's not an exact fit so some things like the screw holes and a few other small things have to be modified for it to fit. From GMpartsdirect.com you can get one for around $200 I think but I'm sure a junk yard would be the best place. Sometimes I see one on ebay for under $100. I think it's DEFINATELY worth the little bit of work needed to get it to fit.

Go to the salvage yard and find one...the engines are everywhere. Just look for a cam cover that says HO on it. You would need to figure first how to make the throttle cable work, the intake ports match, the throttle body itself, maybe move the battery to the trunk so you can have a CAI...yeah, it would be a PITA. But look at the runners on the Quad. Long and equal length. Take that intake, 56mm TB, plus a cam swap, exhaust manifold off the QUAD4 and you got one hell of an engine. To get serious HP, you got to look past plug and play shit, bottom line. Somtimes you got to get your hands dirty.

HOs are becoming very hard to find, but regular DOHCs are easier to fine and you CAN use the DOHC manifold but the "log" doesnt flow as much, still a worthy gain though. oh and aside looking at the IDI cover the 8th character of the VIN will be A ;)
