There just has to be a way to clear them. I am thinking of going to the junkyard and experiment with some and see what i can do, unless you guys can actually tell me there is no way to clear stock lights.

you cant, the actual plastic is color, whereas the 99+GT and 92-95 GT ones have red film on the clear plastic.

From what ive been told, you can adapt 92-95 tails to them, was going to try it, but the tails i had my eye on at the yard were swiped! :( lol

Don't bother i bought a tail light off a friend for 15 bucks to work on,the lens and the backing are plastic welded together and its the smallest and tighest crease,my dremel tool could barely fit inbetween then the lens and the backing and if i did get it started it would melt the plastic then break the the little wheel after i get so far,i still have the tail and at some point im just gonna try and finish it up and see what its like inside....Not to many people have gone this far and they usually say its not like the 92-95 or the 99+ because they just have heard from other people that you can't clear them,i just have to find out for myself, and hey i don't care who thinks a waste of time,id rather found out something for myself then sit around and not have proof.Thats one way of learning about stuff, taking it apart/and or putting it back together in some cases.

You know I think I still want to try, and about adapting tail lights from earlier models, it would be hard because the reverse lights and in the bumber of the 92-95 GA's that would be too much work. vanishing image could you tell me more about what you have done and maybe send some pictures, i just want to see how far you have gotten thanks.

Why mess with them? I think they look great as they are!

For as far i have gotten it isn't much, basically about 2/4 the way around the tail, the hardest part is this angled part where the lens and the backing are welded together, the dremel has a hard time staying in the crease,i'll try and upload some pics, hard to see,but i can see into the light and it looks to be a nice looking cleared tail if it can be cleared,i might get some people telling me this but all i can say is how many people have TRIED doing it. But then again it might be like the SE and GT,i dunno which tail i have,my friend got it at a junkyard so who knows if GM made a difference between the two......I'll try and get pics of the taillight im working on......

You're right Jay they are great looking tail lights,i won't argue with you on that at all:) But the only part i don't like is the orange piece for the turn signal,if i can just remove that i'll be a happy camper, just to make that clear would be a good progress for me.

i like the black out idea too bad they dont make black outs for the new grand ams.. maby use some nite shades spray on a cleared gt housing to get same effect

you could also try using window tint for your tail lights then you could pick the color or the darkness of the tail lights

they dont make blackouts, so what you do is buy AED clear lenses and paint the inside of your housing black and put led's in there... done! or get custom like mine...
