I was wondering if two 10in. Phoenix subs or one 15in. would hit harder? Also does anyone know which ones are good for little money? I have seen those Octane ones, are they any good? Thanks,Travis

i don't know about quality, but i think the 2 10's will be a tighter sound, the 15 would just be to make it really loud. thats what i've gathered. If i'm wrong someone please correct me.

nope, jazzman is correct. Weve tested it with my buddies system and the 10's sound so much better. As for Pheonix Gold. I honestly really liked some of their older stuff. These days, well, they are very decent, but I find their prices to be quite a bit. Like, the quality and the subs/amps are quite good, dont get me wrong, especially the titanium series, those are sweet. but they tend to be on the more expensive side. Thats why I didnt go with them, a little too expensive for my tastes.

I was a huge fan of PG back in the day also, and their titanium stuff is very top notch still. As for the lower end stuff, I hate to say it but there is a lot better stuff out there. As for which will hit harder all depends on the equipment used. I have some 15s here that will rock hard as hell and still have react pretty fast. Then I have some tens that do pretty well but are sloppy. The only real advise is to go out and listen to everything you can and buy what YOU like. Peace, Lee

The thing is that most people in my towm have either JL's,RF's,Mtx's, or Wal-mart junk. So i can't really hear much variety and i would like a brand that no one has in my town. Have you heard anything about the PG Octane subs though?

I use to sell them. They weren't bad but a little boomy or loose. I would suggest something better. Where do you live? If you can I would try Crossfire. I sell that also and it is awsome equipment and an awsome company. Peace, Lee

I live in northern MI. I am thinking that i might try and find a package deal with 2 10's or 12's with box, but i'm not sure what i want yet. What do you think of MTX 6000's or Alpine SWS? Travis

I would have to agree with btchn on many points. As for what subs, you really cant go wrong wiht some Alpine type S or R's, so if that is in your price range, I would probably recommend both. The rpoblem with Alpine is IMO, they still dont have a competition line of subs, thats why I did not go with them for my subs.

I have my problems with MTX as a company but the subs are pretty good. I have heard three different sets of Alpines and they never really did anything for me personally. What other brands do you have available locally? Peace, Lee

What about Kicker? I was looking at getting one 15" possibly. Also in town they carry JL's, but too many people have them in town.

consider kicker too. they are an awsome company with some kick ass products.

The kickers get real loud but I didn't care much for the sound. JLs rock pretty hard and they must sound good if everyone has them. The thing is, you named a bunch of companies with pretty good reps and you need to just listen to them all and see what you like. Peace, Lee

Which would sound better though, a pair of 10's or one 15"? I mostly want it for SPL so i was thinking one Kicker cvr 15", but i don't know if i would want it ported or sealed? Also what size amp would i want for the 15"? Thanks,Travis

if you def want SPL then go with a 2-12" L7's amd a good 1200.1 amp or larger. also a L7 15" wouldnt be too bad ither. now if you really wanna get loud get one of their 18" subs

I guess I would suggest a single 15 in a large ported box with as big an amp as you can afford. Make sure to make a big port too, not a 4 inch round port but a large slot port. Get ahold of the company that you get the sub from and they should be able to help you out with a box design. Peace, Lee
