The factory fogs on my 00 SE are pretty pathetic. How far up can I go in power without overheating the light fixture and/or wiring? The foglamp relay is 10A, and the two stock lamps together draw about 4.5A, so I'm not too worried about the relay contacts. I figure I could step up from 27W to 37.5 (893 lamp) without too much danger, but I don't know for sure, and I'd be real hesitant to put 50W bulbs in there...

If you really want to see a difference and stay safe with either a 2200 Blazertech (fog light) or 3200 Blazertech (driving light).

There are instructions for the conversion all over the place and it'll be much safer than a higher wattage bulb in the stock plastic housing.

I agree that the BEST solution is probably to replace the entire fog light with 'better ones' but I changed mine to 885 bulbs (50W) and haven't experienced any troubles :)

yeah if your wanting a brighter light definately replace the housing, the housing is all plastic anyways. Get some blazer housings you would be much happier. The diffrence is night and day.

Well, I was amazed by the difference in going from 27 watts to 50 watts so going to even brighter should be great ... if I decide to do it that is :wink4:

i was thinking about up grading my fogs and buying silver stars because i liked the visibility of my car before i put the black outs on but dont want to get rid of them, i like the look so i figure just up grade. now all visibility is created by the fogs.. head lights are use less

Definitly go with the upgrade for the brighter fogs. I really don't think that plastic can handle much more than what factory puts in those things. I really prefer the metal housing, and real glass over the front of my new fogs, and the brightness is much better!

The first set of replacement bulbs I got for my fogs were 50w bulbs!! BAD BAD BAD BAD.....They were so hot in the light housing that it, for lack of better term, welded itself to the fog light housing. Thus, making it impossible to change the bulb once it burnt out. I had to replace both my fog lights. I'm now using a 37.5w bulb with no problems. Everything is fine and I like the difference since I have super white everything now.

I had the 885 bulbs in my stock lights for awhile. Nothing drastic happened, but they did start to melt a spot on the clear lens. I broke down and bought some Blazertech 3200s and that is a huge night & day difference over the stock lights, even with the 885 bulbs. I recently put in some Sylvania Silverstar headlight bulbs also. Its neat being beside another car at night on a 4 lane highway because you can so easily see how yellow their lights look compared to how white and bright mine are. I was afraid of blinding everybody with the new setup, but everything is aimed properly and I have yet to get bright-lighted by anyone. I can see alot better especially in the rain which is more than I can say for any "blue" or cheap "xenon" bulb on the market.

:agree: i think im getting a pair of those from PFYC.Hopefully they will fit,or i can just fiddle with it til it fits,as long as its 4inches in diamter it will fit.

The brightness of mine are just sad,i can't tell they are on at all at night with my Artic White headlights on,and they are pointing at different angles too.

Well, it fits nicely in the 99+, I am not sure about your year tho, Ryan. I also had to modify the stock brackets, but still used them. Still using the stock wiring, only had to add wires for the angel eyes..... and you gotta admit, it looks damn good!

I have upgraded fog lights in my 95. I went to a custom car/truck place and asked the guy what would fit looking at fog lamps. He said he could just replace the bulbs and harness with 100 watt bulbs. The guy said it won't melt the housing either. I got them and they are 2x brighter than my Silverstar headlights!:D It's amazing. Had them for about a month now no problems doing nothing but night driving. Don't no what kind they are though i should of asked:( .

I just modified the 99+ stock brackets to fit the aftermarket lights. Here's a link to how I did it. It used the stock adjusters and the bulb can be replaced without removing the bracket.

Modified brackets for Angel eye / Blazer lights (http://grandimpressions.net/invision/index.php?act=ST&f=34&t=636&)

I also noticed that the Hella Angel Eye lights are driving lights, not fogs. I'm wiring mine to come on with the high beams and using the fog light switch for the LED part.
