i posted this in another section but obviously it belong here...

how is the wheel gap on the 99-03 Grand Ams with after market wheels. i have some 17" wheels with 205/40 tires. i'm asking cuz i previously had these on my 1995 Neon and the wheel gap is horrid on those cars with aftermarket wheels. and lowered Neons ride harsher than a Model T.

My 17's have a +38mm offset. Is that what you're looking for?

Well if you use the proper tire your wheel gap should remain about the same. If you don't not only will you have more/less wheel gap but you will also throw off your speedometer, ABS, and possibally even traction control.

The stock tire size of 225/50R16 will have a average overall diameter of 24.8". So basically you need a 17" tire that comes close to that and 205/40R17s is not it. That size has a average overall diameter of 23.5"s. Since they are over a whole inch shorter your wheel gap will be more than a half inch larger, hence why it looks worst. A 215/45R17 will have a closer diameter but still just a tad shorter as it messures about 24.6" depending on brand. But I doubt you will notice the 2/10ths and 1/10th of wheel gap.
