Alright... here I go. This has been asked many a times on the old boards.

I know that our lug pattern is technically 5x114.3

But, can a 5x115 work?

What is there needed for it to work if it can?

this might be a good FAQ for all models and years of our cars... i dunno... just my :penny:

If I'm not mistaken, I think 5.115 will fit 99+ GA's perfectly. 5x114.3 will fit but you'd need a spacer. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

It is already in the FAQ: http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=188 ;)

You have it backwards.

Technically it's 5x115

But with with a hubcentric ring and the proper lugnuts to help center it up you can get 5x114.3 on the car.

Why exactly is that item in the FAQ section where nobody thinks to look rather than stickied in this section? It would surely save some unneeded posts.

Ah... just noticed it there... and just stickied today, too.

How about we have a FAQ sticky in each of the modification sections?

I did see that they showed the lug patterns but they prob should also say what is needed to work with the 114.3's and such for other lug patterns.... whateva

Get some spline drive lugs to hold tight on the wheel and stud

I ordered some rims from Exel (wheelmax.com).

they are 18x8
the offset is 45 (that measn that they will be very close to the suspension) :( but a spacer will help.

Also, they are 114.3 so I will need a hubcentric rings.

too much trouble, but i really like those rims.

What i don't understand is how lugs can help the problem with the 114.3 wheels fitting on a lug pattern of 115... they are .7mm difference. but i guess it's been done before and i should just accept it and buy some hubcentric rings and spline drive lugs....

well, the .7mm is not that off but it is not 115. the centric rings will give you the 115 pattern you need. If you buy rims that are 114.3 and dont buy centric rings you will eventually bust the stud that the lug nut goes on.

so the lugs are not in order if i buy the hubcentric ring????

I have my 18X8 114.3mm rims from my old 95 cavalier on my 2001 GA SE right now. The front wheels fit on perfectly. The back 2 were a different story. The cener ring on the hub was too tall and it hit the center of my rims.(my rims wouldn't sit flush against the hub) My rims fit perfect after slight modifications with a grinder on the rear hubs. Easy to fix just depends on how you want to do it.

If you are purchasing wheels with a 115x5 bolt pattern you will not need anything special.

If you are purchasing wheels with 114.3x5 bolt pattern the stud will not be completely centered inside of the hole when the wheel is centered on the hub. On a wheel with the 114.3 pattern the studs will be to the outter edge of the hole which will make the factory acorn style lugnuts only sit on the shoulder of the hole. This could cause a few problems down the road like the wheel moving and becoming off centered or worst yet the lug loosening and loosing a wheel while driving.

Some magazine had a great artical on lug nuts but I was unable to find it in my huge library of automotive reading material.

I'm sure if you contacted a site that sells custom wheels like Tirerack or discount tire they can explain it to you a little better than I can.

Sorry for my ignorance. What is the purpose of a centric ring? I mean, what does it do to make up the .7mm difference?

How much better would a 5x114.4 fit? Would I still need the ring?
