When I open up my hood, directly to the right front-most of the car, there's a white almost see-through plastic tube that's open. When I bought my 97 grand am gt, it didn't have a lid on.

What is it? Along the side, it says "FLUID". My friend told me it's the water supply for the windshield wipers.

umm there are 2 white bottles under the hood, first thing is what year is ur car and we might be able to help out alittle better, if its a 92-95 and it up near the front of the car like 3 inchs back from the front bumper it is the window fluid cleaning tank, if its more back on the passanger side it is the coolant tank, i'm sure that this is the same setup with the 96-98 since they was pretty much the same car, if its a 99+ i couldnt tell u

It's a 97 gt. Yep, I think it's the window cleaner fluid. That's what everyone told me, but I just had to make sure.

If it's just the tube you're seeing, it's the window washer. If it's the full tank and everything up against the right (passenger) side of the engine compartment, kinda in the middle, it's the coolant.

Yeah, it's the windshield fluid reservoir neck that you're seeing. Driver side, next to battery, right?

You can get a 'generic' cap from the local Checker/PepBoys/AutoZone, in the display of 'HELP!' brand of stuff.
Or, use a sandwich baggie and a rubberband. :D :D

PS: When refering to a car's sides, don't use 'left' or 'right', since it depends on whether you're sitting in the car (facing forward) or looking under the hood (facing rearward).
Use 'driver side' or 'passenger side'.
