So yesterday I was driving down the highway when three warning lights came to life on my dash. Well, the car was driving fine so I continued home. I decided to research what was causing the problem and found (thanks to the knowledge of GAOC) that it was my wheel sensor. Armed with this knowledge I called up a Pontiac dealer nearby to tell them what was happening with my car and if I could get it looked at. Well, the service advisor immediately started to get argumentitive with me, telling me that I was wrong and that my undersized rims were the problem (I have winter steelies from an SE Grand Am mounted) and that I was causing damage that would not be covered under warranty. I told him that was highly unlikely because the rims came off of ancar of the same design with the same wheel offset. I also mentioned this was a common problem on N-Bodies to which he disagreed. I hung up the phone pissed off at this mans ignorance and unwillingness to listen to me.
Anyways I decided to try another dealer. The dealer I decided upon was #1 Cochran of Robinson. Since I was near them and had some time to kill, I just decided to stop in as opposed to calling them. Well when I arrived I walked into the service area where I was promptly waited upon. After I explained my situation to the service writer he listened intently and agreed with me to the fact that my rims where not the cause of whatever was happening with my car. He then called over one of his mechanics who was more than happy to look at my car. They invited me to browse around the showroom as they diagnosed the problem. After I browsed around the showroom checking out the new Envoy, the tech came in and explained that it was in the fact in the wheel sensor. He walked me out to my car and showed me where the wheel sensor was and how it was screwing up. He told me to go back in and chill and he would have my car fixed in a few minutes. So I went back in and talked to a nice salesman by the name of Ed Willtrout, a really good guy who told me everything I wanted to know about the GTO (its due in anyday yey!) and the new GMC Sonoma replacement. He knew I wasnt buying anything but he still took a good 20 minutes or so to sit back and talk to me about cars, it was a nice change from how pushy salesmen sometimes can be! A few minutes after the service writer came in and said my car was fixed and ready to go. He then got me taken care of and out the door two minutes later. Needless to say I was blown away! It was such great service, and I didnt even buy the car from them! :) I guess thats why they are the biggest GM dealer on the East Coast...
Anyways if you live in Pittsburgh and you need your GM worked on, I recommend number one Cochran as the place to go!
