All very nice cars. Good job Peyster. Just one thing about those those taillights though. I know they cost a grip, but you'd think they'd come with lenses. They look ass just on there and nothing to cover them.

I understand that The bettyracer has a butt load of cutom work done to it, but that wing....ugh....I'm not crazy about the pink graphics, but I could live with those before the wing. lol BUt Definately looked like one hell of a burn out...looks like there's 2 nice black stripes on the pavement! :D lol
The other pics camer out great...Gotta love to see GA's all showing their stuff like that. Great work everyone!

The Betty Racer burnout was killer. The first one he did created so much smoke you couldn't see. I think we were scaring the church people next door.

*does a little dance cuz everyone loved/loves my car*
I'll post pics later. I have to get them off my camera. Too bad I can't post a video of the Betty Racer burnout..... or Len on the little motorcycle!! LOL!!
I am in the process of re-doing my tailz. I have been itching to do them for months and now that I have the clear lenses to re-do them I am wasting no time. :)

Just agreeing...I know it's fast, just think the wings a little overdone. Just an opinion. nothing more, nothing less. Too bad I don't own my Trans Am anymore, it wouldn't be running circles around me, Although I am impressed w/ the "bettyracer" unless he's pulling over 500hp & mounds of torque that TA I had would get the better of it.:) So just because someone gives an opinion on looks doesn't mean you have to bring up the "mines faster than yours" mentality, no matter how fast you think you or someone else is, there's always someone else out there that will spank you. It all depends on how big your credit card is.

The wing on the Betty Racer is actually functional. The Betty Racer has been converted to rear wheel drive and that wing probably does a pretty good job holding the back end of the car down considering all that weight that blown V8 adds to the front of the car. I just find the car impressive because he took a FWD made it RWD and converted the rear from drums to discs... it's an amazing car, but you have to look past the asthetics (the exterior).

PGsGT

I think they are all stock GA disc brakes. He has reversed the front though.
Artic

Ya its just got disc braks all around he converted the back himself I think.
JoeyK
12-17-2003, 08:19 AM
Oh sh*t! I hope to god you're wrong, otherwise it's lacking VERY badly in the stopping dept. The stock GA brakes are some of the worst I've seen in a modern car & now he has some extra weight to stop. There hadda be something wrong if he couldn't overcome those sorry excuse for brakes?!?!
Artic
12-17-2003, 08:21 AM
I gotta agree bout the stock ga breaks they do suck
PGsGT
12-17-2003, 08:26 AM
Well, I think that the car is pretty light - not positive though. He was talking about custom light weight door panels but not sure if he used them. Supposedly he is happy with the brakes and thinks that they do a good job. Do the stock GA brakes stop you guys when you have a system in your car along with a couple of passengers? Thats about all the extra weight this car has over the 3400 I would think. Unless the rear axel is a Ford 9" and weighs an ungodly amount. And the rear are GA discs, but they were installed by him, he originally had drums. I wonder why he did it that way, if I were him I would have grabbed a rear end from a Camaro or something that already has the half shafts hooked up for discs' and used the Camaro brakes.

JoeyK
12-17-2003, 08:38 AM
Yes, the stock GA brakes suck that much. There's a noticable diff when I have 3 other adults w/ me. If he did go w/ a Ford 9" he's smart! It's so much easier to change out gear sets w/ it as opposed to any other rear axle out there. It'd be the axle of my choice & it's also what my brother in law used in his Daytona v8 swap in for that very same reason.
PGsGT
12-17-2003, 08:39 AM
^ The Ford 9" is famous:lol: I have never taken one apart, but I did just take a 96 Camaro Z rear end apart and it was fairly simple - but I don't doubt the simplicity of Ford:roll2::P

No need of comments like that, Jordan. :shake: I see cars do burnouts like that all the time. It's no big deal. Hell, I have a vid of a Saturn doing a better burnout than that, just not in digital format.
JoeyK
12-17-2003, 12:24 PM
Ya, it's not hard you just need two things: a handbrake & a blatant disregard for your front tires:D Or in Betty Racers' case, rear tires.

Hell, Ben (Hot_GAGT) did one helluva nice smoky burnout like that at the last PEI meet in October. We have it on vid somewhere...
I don't think anyone would claim that the Betty Racer isn't impressive, just that it isn't the king (or queen) of cars.
JoeyK
12-17-2003, 01:08 PM
:iagree: Gotta admire the time, determination & skill put into any undertaking such as that! My brother in law had an '89 daytona that he mutated w/ the mopar rear wheel drive kit, it 1st had a 318 in it, then a 360, tubed out, roll cage the whole 9 yards it was a monster! That thing was mean lookin all tubed out w/ those huge meats under it.:D
GhettoSuperStar
12-17-2003, 03:20 PM
That car is freak. No one is denying that. But having all that power and relying on a soaked pavement and front brakes locked up to do a smoker isn't that impressive to me. Any 85 hp Hyundai with a clutch and e-brake could pull that off on a dry street.

Well since that isn't a 3400 in that car I guess I can post a short video of my old V6 right?
In the video my near stock Grand National (http://www.ecmotorsports.com/johnsgn.wmv) does a very short burnout. Produced a nice amount of tire smoke and no power braking needed even with a slipping tranny, leaky up-pipe, and bad coils.
And in the video I got off of the gas for two reasons. A) Intersection just infront of where I smoked them up. And B) for the same reason I didn't powerbrake it, because the tires were brand new at the time.
Not saying the better racer isn't impressive, I love RWD converstions on most any cars. But the statement about power braking is very true.

my entire point is that the 3100/3400 are pitiful V6s in terms of power......and they couldnt sit there and burn out like that, even braking it :roll2:

:bs: ... I have done my share of 'sometimes smokey' burnouts simply by planting the gas :) ... pitiful V6s?!? ... I suppose your 4-banger is much better, huh?!? ... remember, they all have their places and benefits bud and just because YOU drive a 4-cylinder doesn't make it the "beat all to end all" of engines ... sure, you can make a 4-banger into 'something' worth looking at but as I have said so many times in the past, put equal time, effort and money into a V6 or V8 and you'll end up with even more ... sorry, I don't typically get involved in such petty bickering but it has been a '$hitty' day and you just happened to hit me at the wrong time :D

Another point to keep in mind,... the 3100 & 3400 v6 began it's life(s) in what? 1991? in the Sunbird, G.A.'s & G.P.'s? (Correct me if I'm off the mark) That was a different day & time. Engine technology has grown by leaps & bounds since then. They have more than served thier purpose well & made thier predicessors seem inadiquit. Yes, they are now missing the mark in comparison to newly developed engines but hell, they're more than 12 years old!?! I admit, it's time to retire them to stay competitve but I'd hardly call them pathetic, they are/ were real a$$ kickers in thier day!... & Soon they will be "Put out to pasture" in order to usher in the newer, more technically advanced 3900 to keep GM in the game. I say job well done to the 3100 & 3400's w/ a BIG smile on my face!;)

further back then that, wwith the 2.8s
my point is.....a v6 should put out more than 5hp more than its "lower model" 4cylinder companion.....
and whats with 2 valves per cylinder? hell even ford puts 4....VW has 5 on some
JoeyK

OK, well , whatever, care to share some info on where you get these figures? I don't ever recall any of the 4's coming w/in 5 hp of the v6 of the same year. Anyways...if you don't have nothing nice to say , don't say it at all. If you have a stock 2.4 & think it's all that I'll come up there w/ my pittifull v6 & race you for pinkslips if you want. That way I could sell your almighty 4 cylinder & have some cash to help out my "pittifullv6" Let me know, NY isn't that far for me.

Yes, I agree with JoeyK.
Last time I checked the V6 was rated at 175hp and over 200ft/lbs of torque.
And the 2.4 is what 150hp, and we won't even mention Torque.
You should have done less sleeping in math class.

LOL!
96-98:
2.4 150hp
3.1 155hp
92-94 the HO's put out ALOT moer than the 3.1 and 3.3.....
joeyk=disproven.
and dont give me that nonsense about not caring about the older gens :roll2:
the V6 in a grand am should be pushing, bare minimum, 180 hp, and over 200lb/ft of tq (yeah i realize the 3.4 comes close on the hp, and has over 200 on tq, and it gets a lil moer respect from me) but they also need manual trannies (not that they would even benefit from them due to their poor power bands, but it would be more fun to have one)

& why should a v6, in a Ga in particular have to run 180 bare min??? Just because you say so? what are you basing this on? It's old technology, GM does wierd things, hell, all the car co.'s do. If you don't like the 6's numbers then don't ever buy one. Big deal, you have a 4. I could swear you have displacement envy.

Warning:
Let's not turn this thread into yet another 4 Cylinder vrs. V6 thread, I think we've covered enough of that topic in other threads. In fact, that topic has been beaten to death in other threads. Let's just get back to the topic at hand: Pics from the California meet. mmmmmmKay?

No worries, Joey. You're not the only one involved. ;) Just trying to keep the peace.

i just think a car as heavy as the grand am should have a higher performing engine for its higher models.....it really makes me wonder why a 99+ 2.4 5spd GT with supercharger was not offered from the factory cause it woulda bene cool. and not hard on the warranty dept since it ran low boost.

It was not a GAOC official meet, it just had several GAOC members attnd. The meet(as I can tell) was put on by AED and AllTuned.

YEAH WTF is up with the V6 and I4 discussions in here :???:. Seriously, leave the burnout predictions to all the 3400 "gurus", or the I4 "turbo gods" or whatever the hell they call themselves nowadays :roll2:
were talking about a blown 5.7l that was custom built and taken out an IROQ, and this was prior to the blower going onto it, which was also custom built. Trans ams, and camaros, vettes, CIRCLES??? yeah this car was made to run circles around those cars, nice try, but no cigars ladies and gentlemen.
this is 700+ HP were dealing with, and a motor built for a much lighter vehicle, take a trip down to oceanside before you insert foot into mouth, and do your homework ;) , give credit where credit is due, and FYI, I have never purchased a single AED product for any of my grand ams
I hate to be derogative and informative at the same time, but if any of you ever recieve a gift from god and ride shotgun in this car, I guarantee you will all cream in your little chonies. 35 Series tires, and a RWD V8 isnt exactly a "traction perfect" picture, but im sure someone will want to chime in with the "theres always a bigger fish" motto, so because it seems I have been the most informative, please add more info if I have left any factual details out. INFORMATION BEFORE SPECULATION
seriously ppl, the company bashing gets old real fast, lets talk strictly about the meet here which was by NO way an AED meet, it was an Alltuned/AED colaboration, and I am still jealous that I did not attend, lets see more of those pics, and a BIG THANK YOU to Matt/Randy/Len/Susana and sponsors who made it possible

Seeing as the thread has already been cleared up, your post serves no purpose other than to stir the pot once again.
FINAL WARNING! One more mention of AED/Len/Susanna or of 4-banger vrs V6 vrs V8 or of burnouts in this thread and it will be closed.
