Alright here goes, I don't own this car but a buddy of mine does, it is a 93 or 94 grand am with the quad 4 in it, it only has 60,000 miles on it, it was a grandmas car for 57,000 miles of that. It has those stupid aluminum heads in it of course and he said it has been running bad for the last couple of days, black smoke, crappy running, bad idle, etc. anyways we went and looked at it today and found some nasty booger like creamy light brown things on the dipstick, so i was guessing it has either a cracked head or a blown head gasket. any ideas, thanks, you can contact me at me_fear@hotmail.com, I ussually don't check this forum too much anymore, My GF had a 93 that did somethings similar to this and that was a blown head gasket too, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks,
Derek

Actually a little milkshake high up on the dipstick is normal for a Quad4 - especially this time of the year, condensation. And if he did blow his gasket, it usually can be fixed. To really make sure the gasket is blown, a compression test is in order. BTW, there is also only ONE head in an I4.
