Ok well I was going through the local radio shack and a guy offered me a really good deal on some power acoustik fubr-12 subwoofers so of course I took the deal...

but I forgot to take into consideration other expenses and problems...

for example they claim I "need" and aftermarket head unit, is it true...

and if I do need an aftermarket head unit I have the seek and volume controls on my steering wheel... if I buy a head unit will it render these buttons useless? or is there some way to wire them into the aftermarket unit?

Well, first of all, those people are trying to get you to buy something you don't necessarily need, but it's better to have a more powerful aftermarket deck than the stock Monsoon. You will also need a bigger amp, wiring kit, I think a special connector for the monsoon, and if you want to keep your sterring wheel controls, it's like 60 bucks for the adapter...

where would I find an adapter for the steering column controls?

Hmm... My friend has a 94' GP and he was going to get one for his... I dunno where from, I'm guessing on the net somewhere. I'll look around and if I find it, I'll post it!
