Engine Is Toast!!!!

its been awhile since ive been on, ive put in a new windshield, done the head gaskets, replaced the starter put in a couple new sensors and now the bearing in the crank is gone.... all that work for nothing now... anyone else have this problem before?

No, sorry i sold the car back to my uncle who originally GAVE me it for 1500$ so i could break even hes going to fix it up i think

I had to replace my balancer back in June. There weren't any decent ones in the salvage yards, so I had to get new.

why would one need to change a harmonic balancer ? what is the symptom ?

The rubber deteriorates between the two metal pieces (the hub and outer ring). It rattles and knocks really bad. I thought the engine was toast, but I had read elsewhere that this is a common problem with GM V-6 engines. I checked it by seeing if the outer ring will move without the engine moving and it did. I replaced it and all quiet now.

I found this thread in a search and have the same problem. My balancer also came apart and is knocking like crazy. I rarely drive the car and want to get rid of it. Can the balancer be replaced without pulling the engine? I assume it is pressed on and requires a puller.

I don't know the process, but I do know that if the balancer is messed up you shouldn't under any circumstances start the engine, let alone drive it.
