I just read that post about it. BUT how accurate is it? I reset mine at my last oil change, and the oil is now up to like 800 miles over its old school change point of 3000 miles. I use my car everyday, alot of into start and stop driving. Wouldn't that be considered severe driving, not to mention I live in Florida where at is average 70 deg temp year round. Just makes me nervous, I was always told to change oil and filter every 3000. Its just alot cheaper than an engine, please someone make me feel better:???:

I've been changing oil and filter in my 96 Achieva evey 5000 miles. It presently has 172,000 miles on it. I guess things have changed since the old school.
If you chicken out and change your oil sooner, remember to reset the monitor even thou it hasn't flashed yet.

Stop and go driving has little effect on the oil life monitor.... Cold startups affect it more. Personally, I still change my oil (Even with Synthetic) at 3 months/3000 miles. Do whatever you feel comfortable with, as both methods are widely accepted.
