I need new rear lower control arm bushings and I figured I might as well have the fronts replaced at the same time. The dealership wants $60 for all four bushings though. Advance Auto Parts wants $30 for theirs. Anyone know if there would be any problems with using the non-factory bushings

I bought the bushings from autozone - you should have one vertical and one horizontal bushing on the front. I was going to have them done by my local mechanic but he gave me another idea. I went to the junk yard and bought the entire control arm for passenger and driverside (which included control arm, bushings, and suspension support). Since the control arm is mounted to the suspension support it made it much easier to exchange. I got 2 control arms for $30 a pop and the bushings on it were good. The shop put each control arm/suspension support on in 1/2 hour each. Cost me a total of like $120.
Just an option for ya:bigok:
Other wise they have to disassemble the suspension support from the control arm and put the bushings in. I don't know how easy that is, but it doesn't look easy.

well AP sells OEM parts but of course they aren't from GM but they should still be to spec, but if you feel more comfortable about buying it from the dealer then AP then get them from the dealer.I would prolly too if i needed a part like that, but recently my studs for my lug nuts have been snapping off trying to take of the lug nuts and they are just junk and ive replaced them with bolts from AP and they are much better, hard to mess up the threads.IMO some factory parts just suck,so its just up to you on what you want to spend your money on and what your more comfortable about.

While all of the bushing-ed parts are on the bench, isn't it simple wisdom to replace the squishy parts with upgraded neoprene, or some other better-than-latex parts? Is this easy ??

i agree
just pay for the labor once
bushing make a difference
especially in tire wear when driven hard
make sure you lube them frequently in the winter
