Hello everbody!

I wonder how accurate are the online History Reports. I purchased one of those, right before I purchase my new Grand AM. On the report (Autocheck.com) it says that the first registration date is 1/16/2003. But, when I talked to the GM dealer their database said that warranty started on 09/29/2002. What is that mean?

Oct'02 is the production date and Jan'03 is the purchase date?

Factory warranty starts at the production date?

I'd appreciate all help.
Thanks in advance.

That sounds right...after they are made, they sit around in a huge parking lot waiting for a dealer to buy them, but the warranty is effective when the dealer buys the vehicle. Makes sense? Sure....

:wtf: wut??

warranty shoudl start when you sign the papers and drive it off the lot.. but never owning a new vehicle, somewhat uneducated in that information :(

The warranty starts when the maker says it starts. If you don't agree, well there's a lot of sadness in the world......

what are you talkinga bout. If the dealer buys the car, and it sits on the loat for 6 months, you didn't jsut loose six months of your warranty!

yeah, in the manual for my car (the DeVille) in the part that talks about the warrantee, it says that it starts when the buyer first buys the car, they explain how you may buy a car with 10-20 miles...or whatever the number is (testing, unloading etc..) and that if you have like a 50,000mile warrantee, and there is 50miles ont he car when you buy it, you actually have until 50,050 in the odo (not counting the years) that the warantee is in effect.

That's what it said for my car, I am pretty sure all other cars, atleast GM is the same.....

the car has to have been titled for the warranty to come into play. not the production of the car.
