I am looking into getting a new set of tires soon. I have read that the Falken Ziex512 V speed rating series rated number one in consumer reports.

Has anybody had any experience with these? From what little I have seen, people do like them, but they wear fast.

I need a tire that has good wet traction as well as dry. I know these tires are also offered in an H speed rating, which should increase the amount of miles before they wear. They are fairly cheap for a high performance all season tire.

Thanks,

I am a Falken Tire wholesaler and I passed on them for my own car. Sure they were cheaper that my Continentals, but I wasn't impressed with the 512 in relation to its potential in snow situations. With you being in California, I don't see that as an issue for you.

As for this number one in Consumer Reports, I haven't seen it. Usually we get info like this to use it to 'woo' the retailer into buying it over something else.

hi,
I've found that the Falken ziex 512s are very good tires, and have pretty good traction in most circumstances. Falken makes models which are rated for 30k and 60k miles. The 30k's are really inexpensive I think, but dont really know how much more the 60k's are. For my money they had better not be twice as much, or else it'd be better to just buy the 30k tires twice as often.
