View Full Version : Time for new suspension
Well, at nearly 140,000 miles all my struts and springs are about shot. Now I know that I want to get some Eibach springs to lower it a bit, but what kind of struts should I run with these springs? I know running OEM wouldn't be a wise idea. Car info is to the left.

Whats wrong with OEM style Struts? My car is dropped 2" with Monroes fron and rear and the ride is albeit harsh for some, I think the struts/shocks are VERY responsive!
Don't the struts wear out quicker though? Since they'll have a larger distance to travel. I want a pretty smooth ride with good handling.

I think that when oem struts are dropped then they have less actual travel, because the the coil springs have less tension they compress more easily allowing the car to fall to a new resting point, balanced against the strut compression. Its as if you drive over a speed bump and the wheels are forced up into the wells, shortening the strut, but all the time.
As for what this does for ride QUALITY, I have no clue. Probably not great, but some people really like being able to really feel the road.
