hey guys i was goin over my budget tonight and i was thinkin by spring i might buy a new car cause my ga is a 94 with about 85,000 miles on it has a few problems with it but nothin major. I though about trading it in for a used 99 gt1 because i thik i definitly want anouther ga if not a trans am but get some bad winters around here so i dont think the trans am is a good idea. So wanted to know what u guys thought. Also if anyone has recently finaced a 99 or 00 ga what do you pay mounthly if u dont mind me askin.

it varies depending on the dealership/price of car and everything else, i would guess you would be paying around 200 a month if not less or maybe a lil more, it jus depends. go to the local delaerships and ask around. im sure you will find an answer. good luck

Hey. I just bought a 99 Grand AM GT myself (beautiful cars). I got mine for a deal, so I dont know if this helps you, but I pay about 100-something a month for mine.

It all depends on how much the car is, what they will give in on trade in and what you interest rate will be.. on my 99 GT it was 230 and when I got my new car it went up 100 bucks.. and also had to take it 3 years longer..

You can usually get a better interest rate at a bank or definitly a credit union than you would if you financed it through the dealer.

I just got $3000 for my grand am at 4% interest at a credit union, so the payments are like $88 a month for 3 years

It all depends on your credit history.. like with me if I did it, my interest rate would be high, because I dont have much of a history, but my grandparents do and they get it really really low.. like 3%..

I paid $11k for my 02GAGT, with roughly 22555miles on it.
and financing would have been $200 a month.
(all figures exchanged from canadian).

I'm paying $380 a month on my '04 for five years. I had some negative equity rolled over from my previous car, though, a LOT of it actually. I figure that's not too bad of a payment for a brand new car.

Got my '04 GA for about $450/mo for five years, fully loaded. Got kinda screwed on the interest, it's 7.5%, but that's with a no-penalty early pay, which was as low as I could go with that. I could've taken about 5% I think, but wanted a chance to pay it off early, and the higher interest only added a few huindred,

There are many posts about the 99 & 00 problems, brakes and electrical. IMO put the money that you would pay for a loan into a savings account and continue driving the 94. If something major happens to it, you will have a good down payment that reduces your loan amount. While you're driving the 94, you can then research how much the car you want should really cost.

I also stay away from dealers, you get a better deal from private sales and you'll get more for your 94 too. Your car is 10 years old and not worth much to a dealer. They'll make it look like they are giving you thousands for it while jacking up your loan rate and keeping the newer car discount they give to everyone else. The dealer does provide a useful service but you have to pay for that service in one way or another.

Here is a article from Edmunds about some of the things that can happen when buying a car.

Good luck

I got my 97 GASE 3.1 for $2,500 (so I just paid cash), but 100k miles. It has a 1yr warranty too, so that's not bad. So far, i've been very happy with it. I'm alittle weary though because I hear alot of horror stories about higher-mileage GA's. I still don't beleive it though.....GM motors are tough. My 94 Cavalier had 190+k on it, and was still running strong. In fact, if I weren't intentionally TRYING to kill it, I would still be driving it.

hey, im from winnipeg and i just baught a brand new grand am gt 2003 with only 23 kms on it before i picked it up. It is the best car i have ever baught. but I am leasing it for 4 years and the price per month is $355. not bad, and our winters our horrible it is 50 below right now, thats cold. so my opinion go for the newer model.
