I dont drift all the time. But sometimes I just like to try it to see how good I can. Some people pull the e brake but thats too much hassle. For me, i go up to a turn and dont turn at the apex, I kinda go by it a little then in the middle I hit my regular brakes and turn the wheel where I want to go. If I did it right, my tail slides. When my car is facing straight up the street after the tail slide i take my foot of my brakes and hit the gas. I know thats not a totally correct drift but theres no places around here to safely try real drifting.

"Real Drifting" requires at least all-wheel drive, but should be rear-wheel drive. Not to burst your bubble or anything. But yeah, I drive crazy to and slide my car around.

that just don't look healthy on the vehicle lol. it's fun and all but i wouldn't do it in MY vehicle. i have been known to pull the e-brake for a 360 (or 3) before lol. but again, not in MY vehicle

Yeah but its still fun to try. At least I can get an all right FWD tailslide going.

Hope you're doing this on a lateral skid pad :)

true drifting starts with understeer then progresses to oversteer.

I drifted with the e-brake at 10mph on an empty ice covered parking lot the other day...lol

I drift every-time i go to my friend house in the country. He has a long driveway that is dirt. At the end of it is like a 300 degree turn. (e-brake fun) It's funner when it is all muddy, but then it takes me a full day to wash the car. Oh well that is what i get for having fun.
Note:
Don't buy a 2001 GA SE 2.4 from montgomery,al that is sanddrift in color, and if ran a carfax that says use to be a rental car in Boca Raton,FL.

and what's not safe about a muddy driveway? lol. if mudding and playing on ice covered parking lots then i'm guilty as charged. although the bad thing about parking lots are those damn light poles with 5 ft. of concrete around the pole. those things can put a BIG dent in your car.

When going into a corner slightly give the wheel a quick nudge into the opposite direction before entering your turn. This will get some body roll to work with the car and help swing it around.
And for the record, RWD and AWD is what you'll really want if you want for a decent drift.

Agreed. If you want a FWD car to act more neautral, with slightly less understeer, try toeing in the rear wheels about .5 - 1%

I just go straight... slam on the gas...the rear does the rest..I just hold on for the ride ;)
Opposite Lock..the only way to drive. :D

I can't resist pullin' my E-Brake in snowy/icy weather... as long as it's slippery and not too rough on the car.
I do it to slide into parking spots when there are no other cars around.

witht he DeVille.... a few times I went into the orchards and did some 360s in the grass by hitting the parking brake (oh yeah, my left foot gets some action :D ) I also slid the back end aorund in my gravel drive way and other things in the grass.....now though, I realize how stupid I was to do those things with that car....
not to say that I won't with the Olds :D :D :D Although my parking brake (again, foot pedal) is kinda loose, on dry pavement, it will not lock the tires up, but in the rain/snow/ice it will.... but I DO want to get the parking brake tightened up.....
.... being that the DeVille has the auto parking brake relase, when in drive, I just hit the pedal, adn it comes back up byitself, with the Olds, I have to hold the brake release out....
..... I am waiting for a snowy/ice day to go out and have fun..... AFA parking lots.... where do you guys go? would a big school parking lot be ok? or what.... can you get in trouble with cops and stuff? if they did stop by, I would say something like I was just practing winter driving and if I ever got into a slide or something..... but the whole idea of it sounds fun......
....both of my cars have a huge amount of body roll....I havn't been brave (or stupid?) enough to try drifitng....well, I would never do that in the DeVille, and the parking brake isn't tight enough on the Olds..... with all the body roll, it would probally roll over a few times before the back end broke loose :D
know what IS fun? hitting a "bump" in the road (well, more like a hill that goes up, then suddenly goes down) and getting air.... like all the tires a foot off the ground, then hopping up like 6" a few times...... yeah, the suspension on the DeVille is soo soft you don't even feel the land..... but like I said, I now realize, with that car atleast, it was stupid, and I don't do it anymore....

Just dont do it with big poles or other cars or people around, but a big parking lot out of the way should be fun. make sure there arent potholes or anything

answer to fwd drifting= two mcdonalds treys, grand am, and big parking lot.
take two treys, place them behind rear tires, put grandam in reverse till on treys. Apply e-brake, Put car in drive then apply gas.
Another way, put car in reverse and floor it, = backwards drift

yea I have been known to do a reverse 180 into my parking space at school, of course that lasted for a week before I got an improper operation of a motor vehicle ticket
