ecotec intake cone removed

has anyone else taken out the plastic cone,black tube inside the square looking intake box that hooks to the TB, if you take off the hose that goes to the air box you can see that there is two layers going into square box it is held in place buy two parts small round looking spot weld like plastic melt,if you get it out it is like 6'' long 21/4 round

yeah back before i decided to take my factory airbox completly out I removed that. But I really dont like how that airbox is designed so I took it out completly and just put on a cone filter

had to do it for my CAI, that air box is the only stock piece left though
