View Full Version : ABS light and hand brake

hi all,
long time browser first time poster.
In my 98 GA GT the ABS light is on with the hand brake light as well. i can control the ets with the button, so thats ok, but i was wondering if any of you have seen this combo. i've been reading the forums and cant find the same combo. please help, its really buggin me

I would think it may be your parking brake sensor.

Yeah, I've seen this combo... its happens to me a lot. My cause seems to be that my back brakes/drums need to be replaced....when I pull up on the handbrake to stop, my car ain't stopping ;) if thats not your problem I'd say it would be the sensor

ive changed my rear brakes and drums now but the lights are still on..
any other suggestions?

The "brake" light indicates 2 things...
1 - parking brake is set
2 - brake system malfunction

I would have the brake system check out ASAP.

umm, I never said I used the handbrake to stop, see once in a while if you don't use your handbrake that much, you should take it out in a desserted parking lot and stop using the handbrake, just to keep the parts free and remove and rust on the drums.

I had body fuse to go out on me causeing the abs light to come on

What ended up being the problem? I have this problem on my 1998 GA SE!! HELP!
