New shocks/ stuts?

My car rides like hell. I can feel every little bump on the road and its a real pain in the ass. Its got 130K on it and the dealership i bought it from was kinda shady, so im guessing they didnt touch anything but the interior to clean it up. Is there a way to tell if my shocks and struts are blown? I use the equipment at school and were off for a while so i cant tell here at home. Im looking at buying new KYB's and a stab. bar. Also, anything more i can do to improve the ride other than what i mentioned before?

... this method is pretty simple buy typically effective ... press up and down on the front/rear of the car trying to make it bounce and if it does bounce more than once, maybe twice, you need new components :)
