Ok gurus we have a 97 gt 4 door v6 just had the intake gasket done the second time. and the garage also installed a new thermostat, they was also suppose to flush and fill the system they charged for this anyway.
this car has never been really warm in very cold weather we'ved owned it since new. after doing some checking here is what I found.
the middle vent on the drivers side and in the center get warm air not hot, while the passenger side middle vent puts out cool air:???:
also the windshield vent does almost the same only on the passenger side the air flow is almost non existant:eek:
and cool when put on the floor the air is luke warm meaning cooler than the middle vents on the driver side, also the floor vents are extremely small except for the vent that runs along the console goes under the seats to warm the back seat floor, I removed the vent housing that directs air flow to the back seat floor and only am getting luke warm air in area under the dash , I see several looks like large bulbs that I guess work off air vaccuum from the motor. so help me out here my wife is freezing , also I looked at a haynes book, zip for help there is it possible I have several different problems at once,
also the air flow seems to be the best, comming out of the middle vents and at 3/4 speed is the warmest.
when you switch the fan switch to high the air cools down but the flow in increases but cools down the inside even more.

Ok what do you guys say?

thanks in advance

There is a flap ( for a lack of the real name) that moves back and forth inside the dash. It does a few things including deciding how much wind hits the heater core, the less wind going by the core the less change any air has to get hot. How much wind goes to the vents.

When you move the heat selector switch from Cold side to Hot side. Do you hear a wind or vacumm sound in the dash. If you don't hear any sound the vacumm to the flap maybe gone.

Ok, at some point in your cars life, someone may have taken the dash apart. There are plastic tubes that run from the heater core to each of the vents. Check both ends of the plastic tubes to make sure they are hooked up.

It is easy to rehook them and have them fall apart later.

Also, next time you drive your car for a few miles, get out and pop the hood. It should be Hot so be carfull, but grab the heater hoses running from the motor area in to the fire wall where they hook to the heater core.

They should be Hot, if there not Hot your waisting your time trying other things. If the water going to the core is not hot, it won't heat up the heater core, so the wind blowing by will be cold.

What 4kqaud said, possible sticking blend door (the flap thing). Or the control head (heat control panel) malfunctioning.
