Last night I was on my way home from a friends house and my check engine light came on. The car was running fine. I got it home fine. Today I go out to start the car and it starts and then turns right back off. What could be the problem?????? I got the codes read today. I am getting Code P0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2). Could this cause my car to start and then turn back off? Thanks!

That is a possibility. A high signal return voltage would tell the computor that the engine is running rich and the computor would lean out the injectors. Another possibility is that you lost spark.

Turns out it is the O2 sensor. The shop disconnected it and the car started right up. The sensor that is acting up is a Universal one that I bought this summer and had installed. We are thinking that it may have gotten snagged or the wires may have come lose from hitting some snow or chunks of ice that whe have been getting on the Roads here in Milwaukee. Thanks for you Suggestions HeyDace!

Ok. The car continued to throw a Check Engine Light so I took it back to the shop. Turns out the guy hooked the sensor back up wrong. But now i have the code DTC P1629 Theft Deterrent System - Cranking Signal. What the heck does this mean????? Could my remote start cause this?

Remote start can definitely cause that code. One thing, how the hell did he hook the sensor up wrong? They're keyed. Did you use one of the cut and splice cheapys?

It was a Bosch Universal. He didn't have the diagram and asumed that the way he hooked it was right. WRONG. I printed out the Diagram and the car is good!
