man iam i mad, i got up this morning to go to work at 8:00am since i have an automatic car starter and like every day i use it to get my car nice and warm and heated up. well today i started it and for some reason the car would not start, so i thought it was kinda odd for this to do that beacuse it has never done that before. well since i figured it's not gona start that way so i went out in the 7 degree weather and regular start it, well i did that and it like sounded like it was coughing and finally turned over and black smoke came out of the exhust. well i knew what the exhust smoke was. but i don't know why my car is coughing and ideling ruff guess iam gona have to go to some place and find out what it is but at this point iam mad and fed up with my car. :mad:

If it belched black smoke and its chugging you may have a clogged cat or bad O2 sensor and its running rich as hell, basically flooding the motor.

i think going to the doctor would be a good idea sounds like it has a cold haha

I had a similar problem, and it was a misfire in the #5 cylinder.
