Coming home from school yesterday, my sis slid on slush and the car hit the center divider. This is her 3rd accident too

The insurance co filed it as a Driver not at fault. I think thats b.s. b/c I had a similiar incident and was at fault.

p.s. i have pictures if i can get them to load

That sucks. i told my sister as soon as she starts driving she is not gona drive my car. so i solved that problem thoe i know it's mean it's just got to be the way it is when you are the only person paying for the car and it's payments.

Truth. Women shouldnt be allowed to operate a motorized vechicle. They should all be given mopeds

I can't parallel park, but I can drive.. :)

I agree. Most people shouldn't drive. That means just about everybody but me. I mean, all these cars on the road just get in my way.

Gotta allow fire trucks and ambulances though. Everybody else should just get rid of their cars now and make room for me!

Well I am happy to say that I am a girl and I CAN drive. But you are right, MOST people shouldn't even be allowed to breathe let alone drive.

deejay, can you really not parallel park? why is that such a challenge for people? i taught myself. it's easy to do, but i can also back up good. i've seen people that couldn't back up straight 25 ft on a 40 acre smooth parking lot with the wheels locked straight. and i'm not picking on you in particular. just a question i have. my mom can't parallel park and shes...........in her early 40s.

sorry to hear about your car. when my girlfriend first started driving i let her drive my big ol' truck. she couldn't hurt anything. as much as i took that truck through lol. although i think the worst she did was run over her mailbox and scratch my bumper, and another time she ran off her driveway into a ditch. most of the other stuff was driving over curbs (not a problem in that big f**ker) and small stuff like that.

I can, but I've only done it once.. I refuse to do it.. I'd rather walk a few blocks than parallel park.. just cause it scares me..

Sorry to hear about your car. I disagree with the statement about women, as a properly trained female will out drive most egotistical males. I know my wife could anyhow. But I agree that most people shouldn't be behind the wheel of a motorized vehicle, not even mopeds.

just be glad you don't have the longbed, I have a big problem parallel parking with my truck, mostly because in my town the spots are so small

The thing that chaps my a$$ is the insurance rates for girls compared to guys...granted, a lot more guys try to show off or what not and they get in accidents, but most women (please no ladies get offended because i'm not being sexist), but most women really don't know how to drive..there a lot (not all!) who aren't aggressive enough or are way too aggressive and don't know how to handle themselves behind the wheel...please, again i'm not trying to offend women at all because i can name a lot of bad drivers that are guys too..i just think the insurance rates should be even..but that's just IMO

Ok...so i don't mean to beat a dead horse but:

Today after class i was in a parking lot at my dorm trying to find a spot for about 20 minutes and this is what happened in that time....

a girl is trying to pull out of a parking spot and it has snowed a ton here (gotten 2 days off of classes, woo hoo!)..so where they plowed the parking lot, there is a hump of snow behind all of the cars because they can't get too close when they plow..but anyways, i'm sitting there for 10 minutes waiting for her to get out of this parking spot..she keeps getting stuck in the little snow that is behind her car and so she asks these two girls to help push her, so they proceed to try and kick out the snow from under her front tires which are the tires that are stuck..so finally i yelled out "straighten your wheel and give it gas"...so she straightens her wheel after she tried for a day to cut the wheels and get out (never works) and she pussed it about 5 times before she finally gave it some gas..that was definitly frustrating..i would have gotten out to help and be a gentleman, but i was waiting for the spot and there was a line of 7-8 cars behind me..so ladies don't tell me i wasn't tryin to be a gentleman ;)

ok so for #2..
i went into another parking lot to try and find a spot after i had to run a quick errand..i pull in to the lot and this girl completely doesn't stop at her stop sign and comes 2 feet from hitting the front end of my car..luckily i stopped in time..but i'm patient with stupid drivers because they are everywhere..it's extremely annoying though

ok sorry for the venting everyone..just thought it was funny the day i see this post about how women can't drive, i encounter 2 different times when women couldn't drive!! haha..no but i love women, so don't get me wrong..they just need a couple extra sessions at driver's ed.. :)

Hers the thing about women and cars...they by natural selection SHOULD be better drivers then men. Heres why. A womans eyesight is able to take in more of its surrounding than mens. Absolutely true fact. Therefore, you would think that there would be more female fighter pilots, race car drivers, etc......what gives? Maybe its the stigma of society, I suppose.

My wife recently got her drivers licence at age 28...but I am FLOORED at how quick her reactions are and her premonitions, like she can predict what the car in front is going to do. So, im going to pick up "The Drift Bible" on Amazon, have her check it out, (she likes drifting as much as me) and have her apply the teqniques on it. Myself, I think she would be an amazing driver, if taught well.

I can parrallel park, even with that huge win on my back, and I love backing up on parking lots too, and before I got the GA I was afraid to

it's not hard. now if i were in a boat or something it'd be different. but the biggest vehicle i drive is an extended cab, short bed truck. and i don't drive it a whole lot. i can parallel park it during the day, but you can forget at night.......windows are too dark :D.

my girlfriend acts like a race car driver sometimes. she really does scare me sometimes. you'd think that SE had a prancing horse on the front of it lol. i can say that she's gotten better since the beginning.

What i've noticed is that the GA has a small turning radius. This makes it quite difficult to park it in most situations. You have to have the perfect angle otherwise you've got to go at it again. My dad's '04 Chrysler 300m and my stepmom's '03 Lincoln Navigator are easy to park. The turns are much better.

Sorry to hear about your car. If it were me, I wouldn't have let my sister drive my car knowing she has been in 2 accidents. No way. That was a wrong move on your part.

Heh, I love parallel parking..... it's fun, I took my road test in my mothers '89 Brougham and passed the parallel parking part, the DeVille can be trickey at times becuase rearward visibility is very limited, but such a small and nimble car as the Olds, I can fly right into any parking spot :D

When I was at this nice restarant with my father, on main st. in town, I watch soo many people try and parallel park, since I was right by the window, I could see everyone..... there was a taurus on the left an accord on the right, this one lady who had a Toyota Corrola... I swear she bumped the Taurus atleast 3 times and the Honda once.... like, actually hit it, after she thought she parked good, got out and realized half the car was in the road, she went and parked in the parking lot..... another person tried parking an Expedition in the same spot, which the spot wasn't physcally big enough for the truck, so after 5minutes of holding up traffic in town, they gave up....

...the turning radius on my fathers Bronco is incrediable... it can literally turn around within it's own path... .

I dunno if women are worse drivers then men in general.... at my age....well, everyone is a bad driver.... but my mother is a really good driver etc... I think the one thing with a car is the women factor..... it seems like a car gets 3x the wear and tear of a women driver.... just general lack of knowladge..... I heard a loud poping noise, then something clicking but I kept driving the 120miles back home... or, the oil light came on last week, is that bad? what does oil do?.... the lack of preventitave maintenace.... or some things that my mothers does is, not let the engine warm up at all (and it is carburated, so it needs like 5minutes to warm up) so instead drives off with the thing almost stalling in the driveway.... or just put it on park on a hill and taking foot off the brake quickly and letting all 4,600lbs roll agasint the tranny, then the car moves back and forward again..... not getting the car washed....general not-care-what-happens to car attitude (which is why it is the way it is) etc....... but there are guys the same way, and girls that are a total gear head.....just how you are brought up I guess.....

Not sure how your theory works. But you have that backwards, a vehicle with a tighter turning radius will be easier to park due to more maneuverablity. IMO, it just sounds like you need more practice parking.

:funny: that's what i thought when i read that about the turning radius.

My bad, I do have it in reverse. Doh!!! :/

In any case, that's what i've noticed. I don't need more practice parking. I've jumped from one vehicle to the next and that is when I noticed it. I suppose you would have to drive one of the vehicles I mentioned to know. I was surprised when I discovered it.

Aside from innocent flip-flop in terms, I agree. I don't have any problems parallel parking or anything. But I find myself having to turn a u-turn on a good sized residential street that would be basic for pretty much any other car I've previously driven into a 3-point turn in the GA. It's all good, though. I just 3-point it and go on...

for some reason when i started driving i couldn’t angle park to save my life, but i was great at parallel parking....

sry about your car dude.. When my sister started driving i had a 55 chevy pick-up and god was she reckless... almost hit a car that was PARKED!!!... i never let her drive my truck again....

Yeah, the GA has a large turning radius. Do you ever find yourself having to reverse out when pulling into a parking space because your front end didn't clear the car in front of you or any other obstruction? I have to go in the parking space from a wide angle to go in without reversing out. It's annoying.

Entombed GT
01-30-2004, 10:28 AM
Yeah...I've noticed that too.

And forget it if you're on a two way traffic row in a parking lot with angled spaces and you want to grab a sweet spot on the left side.

The worst turning radius I've ever had was my mom's '89 Grand Prix. man, that thing was awful. Oddly enough, power steering rack started to go on it after about 4 years or so. My GA isn't all that bad, I don't think..

The older GAs, (pre-99) have a larger turnng circle than the new, I believe. At least comparing it to my wife's Alero. It turns tighter than my 95 GA.

One time a girl ran a stop sign in fron of me and i layed down about 30 feet of rubber trying to stop and i let off enough to get some traction and steer around her front end. We almost totaled both our cars if i hadnt reacted properly. SHE NEVER STOPPED. once i came to a complete stop she took off and i chased ehr ass down and pulled her over at our farm. I got out and let her have it, then my old man came out 0f the house and i told her to get a friggen clue, and i got in my car and took off. I swear the only friends of mine that have b een in accidents are my female friends, or my male friends being hit by females. As far as the insurance goes, refer back to the kids ripping off their bumper in the asylum, and youll understand why guys insurance is up so much.
