I've seen a few people who have blacked out their rear tail lights and i was just wondering if it is legal or does it depend on the state. I think it looks sweet but i'm not tryin to get into trouble

AFAIK, in most states and provinces it is illegal to have the taillights obstructed at any time while on public roads. Your best bet is to check with your local authorities as to the legalities in your area.

I have mine very lightly tinted...afraid to go darker cuz it is illegal down here. No probs at night, but daytime is a little dif, they don't show as well as they should.

My taillights are black during the day but CHP or any city cops have yet to give me fits about them.

yeah, here it's technically illegal, but cops don't really have a fit about them unless they're bored, or you're in a wreck. and it states on the package that it's for "off-road or show use only". but that goes for any of your lenses here. they're all illegal, but most of them don't care

i had them on my 80 Z28......till I got rear ended on a onramp...before the cop got there I took off what was left of them
not a word was said but never replaced them.
I used to work at a custonizing place and they sold alot of headlight and taillight blackouts from gts. The sales men told them that they wern't leagal for street use. It also says that on the box.

FOR OFF-ROAD AND SHOW USE ONLY". some people
