Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say Hi and thank you to everyone who contributes to the forums.

I'm not a GA owner yet, but I'm shopping for my first car purchase at age 28.

Previous cars were hand me downs:

1978 Chevy Malibu from 1994-1996
1989 Chevy Celebrity from 1997-present
Neither of which had/has Air Conditioning, you will note that I live in Florida.

So far I have test drove a GA SE1, Buick Century, and a Saturn L200.

Turns out I am not a Buick kinda guy.

the 2003 L200 was great, and nice pep for a 4 cyl, but the road noise was unbearable for me. I have really good hearing, and the constant wind, engine, and road noise was atrocious to me. Loved it otherwise.

The 2003 GA SE1 is at the top of my list. My only issues with it are the small back passenger space, but I'm driving so not that big a deal :) ... but the thing that is keeping me from just loving the car is the cheap plasticy dash board controls... And it bothers me more than I would like to admit.. any opinions or suggestions on this?

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi, and thank everyone for contributing to the forum. I have been reading around and the information here has been really helpful. Any other knowledge will be gratefully accepted!

take Care,

Dragonwings

I would like to apologize for an inaccuracy in my first post to GAOC...

I said:

That line should now read... I am NOW a GA Owner!!!

Bought it today, pick it up on Monday...

$10,990 for a white 2003 Grand Am SE1 (V6) with 19,400 miles, Carfax certified. (was a rental car)

Welcome, and congratulations on the new car. Hopefully the A/C controls won't bug you too much. I guess though that there are more other things to keep your mind off them. :)

Again congratulations, and best of luck with your first new car!

That was my one point of contention about the car. The chincy controls, but after driving my baby for a day. It's a moot point.

But isn't that what love is all about, loving your car for what she is and not what you want her to be? ... on that note.. One of my first mods will be to get the HVAC white panel and to paint the control knobs... lol....
