Hey guys and gals,
My mom has an 89 GA LE with the Iron Duke and a 3spd auto. It's all in tune....good plugs, wires, clean throttle body, and all the vacuum lines are in good shape. But it idles high. No way to fix that according to Chilton or Haynes. Can someone gimme a solution to the problem????

it could be a bad throttle position sensor. I know that when i had a high idle i replaced that and it took care of the problem.
just a question.... when does it high idle ?
like when you are stopped or just starting up?

whats it idling at when its stopped ??? because mine is about 1000 rmp at idle in drive. Also my car gets up to about almost 2000 rpm when i first start it up on a very cold day.

I know you said the vaccume lines are all good, but double check. It could also be a bad intake manifold gasket allowing a leak in. Take a look at the butterfly in the tbi and make sure it is not gunked up and staying open a little bit.
