Just tell them its a great chance to meet all the great friends you have made on the board and its once in a lifetime thing.

Actually it's more of a once a year thing but tell 'em we'll look after you and make sure you don't do anything stupid :)

Have Kelly call yer mom to try and persuade...that's what Night Wolf did. Kelly has a daughter your age so I'm sure he could let your mom know that things will be ok...
However, I don;t think a 16 year old should be driving across the country on his own, that's my opinion though...of course your mom might feel the same way. It's a long ride from Iowa to New York.

Haha, yeah, last year John had to talk to Rick's mom and let her know that he wasnt going to be partying all crazy like and driving all over after hours. Worked out well.. and I think this year Rick should be able to drive after nine, heheh

Been there, done that (only with Michigan re: GAP). I begged, n begged, n begged.. n said I wouldn't take my car.. I had a ride.. etc etc. Finally my mom felt bad, realized I was probably gonna go anyway.. n I was gonna be 20 in 2 weeks.. what was the big deal??
A bit different for u tho.. since ur only 16.. good luck.

I'd say definately let her talk to a couple of people. When I first starting driving all over the country for larger meets and what not, my own parents were concerend. However, as they began to meet people and see that they weren't all that bad, :) They lightened up a lot. Well that and I had 26 GA's over to my house one day, so they were almost forced into it. :)

Very true, Adam. We're not druggies or get into trouble, some people last year had their children with them...the drive is I would say very safe, its virtually all turnpikes through some pretty uneventful landscape; and I can guarantee we wont LEAD you into trouble. Virtually all of us are in our 20's and 30's. I mean, you know how we are on the board, its just the same in person. Except me. Im very oompa loompa like in person. =P
Yeah, have your parents call me if they like. I wont be able to caravan with you b/c of other plans, but if they're concerned (and they must be good parents if they are!)I can speak with them. Not a problem.

If your parents are concerned, you could always have them read through these meet threads to see who you'll be meeting with. We'll take good care of you.

Well, we left From Albany on Monday at around 9:00 a.m. and got into Chicago at 10:30 p.m. DO NOT THINK YOU CAN DO IT ONE DAY. Especially if youre by yourself.
